February 11, 2012 1 comment

I (Jim Thorpe) would like to invite you to my Annual Birthday Bash 2012! I have been doing this show for over 15 years. The bash has been held at the Middle East, The Grape St. Pub (some where legendary), Brownies 23. E and now it will continue at my home at The Legendary Dobbs. It is my birthday party but it’s a focus on great music so I compiled some of my favorite friends/bands/artists and put them all on one show. Life at legendary Dobbs the past year was amazing with all the shows we did with my partner in crime Double V. I have met so many new artists, new friends and music partners. Come out and celebrate with us and gear towards to making 2012 better than last year!!! Lets Rock On!!!
Featuring: Carfax Abbey, Midnight Mob, Ebd of an Era, Cubane, Metropolis America and on the 2nd floor: Fraink Viele Trio, Jamielynn Hart and The Midnight Bottle Club.

Cover: $10
Main Stage:
12am Carfax Abbey
*** Carfax Abbey returns to Dobbs. They have played several of my bashes. They revamped their lineup and will be performing new songs and of course songs from their vast catalog***
“If horror movies have taught us anything, it’s that if something looks dead, one shouldn’t assume it’s safe – or even that it’s really dead. So it is with Carfax Abbey.” Patrick Rodgers (Dancing Ferret Concerts)

11pm Midnight Mob
*** One of my favorite bands From NYC. This band just flat out rocks!!! I am so glad they were able to do this show…this is a treat***
GNR/Danzig/Cheap Trick, laced with Joan Jett’s bastard daughter on lead vox spews Midnight Mob’s “101 Death Proof” blend of high octane Rock N Roll with Social Distortion sentiment. Midnight Mob’s penchant for stripped down swagg n roll is as refreshing & sobering as a punch in the face. Formed in February 2009 and lineup solidified in 2010 the band has already accomplished headlining NYC’s prestigious Webster Hall and Highline Ballroom. The 5 have quickly gained the reputation of one of the most hard working, unique and high energy live acts in town. Midnight Mob has taken their rock n roll circus across the bridges of NYC as far south as GA and as far north as ME. In the coming months Midnight Mob plans to capitalize on their recently successful US college radio campaign by incorporating two new singles: “All For Nothing” and Walking Dead”, In addition, a video will be released in the early fall for “All For Nothing” done by the renown Jarret Bellucci. Last but not least the mob is excited about their most recent 16 network television placements, which includes: MTV, FOX Sports and E!

10pm End of an Era
Hailing from the now infamous Jersey Shore, End of an Era is an alternative/electro/rock band that serves as a sonic right hook to Snooki’s face. Mixing equal parts of Nine Inch Nails, Muse, and the Sex Pistols. From countless tours of the
eastern US to playing for 30,000 people at Giant’s Stadium to festival dates in Brazil…End of an Era has accomplished much more in a few years as a DIY band than many label bands do in an entire career. In just over 4 years, End of an Era has played over 350 shows and sold 3500+ albums!

9pm Cubane
*** no strangers to the scene, recently rocked Dobbs for the 1st time, so good I added them to my Bash!***
It takes a lot to impress an unwilling crowd, but Cubane seems to have no problem doing that. Original members, Paul and Matt have been holding down the fort. With the recent addition of drummer Kyle, and the re-acquisition of original Singer, Ricky, Cubane is back to their roots. In a world where songwriting comes naturally and prevails over any other aspect, Cubane is endorsed by any establishment they grace. Crowds leave feeling like they just had an experience and feeling they have never had.

8pm Metropolis America
*** MA is a real favorite of mine, creating a modern electro pop songs with a classic alternative feel. A great kickoff for the night***
“Metropolis is making music that is contemporary yet timeless, and worthy of those art-film-soundtrack-moments of our life.”— , H.M. Magazine

2nd Floor Lounge Stage:

9:30pm JamieLynn Hart
“Her uniquely beautiful voice has a multifaceted signature of soul and a nice little rock edge to keep it interesting. Her songwriting is of significance in itself and her siren-like vocal talent shines through and reflects her lyrical forte…”
Anticipate highlights Hart’s lyrical pop voice layered over a roots rock groove. She pushes herself to really go there, everywhere from retro-blues and pop melodies to soulful acoustic ballads, raising the stakes for herself and her musical peers. Heavily influenced by her personal experiences, her songs are relatable stories filled with authentic soul baring messages.

10:30pm Frank Viele Trio
Frank Viele started playing at the age of three. So maybe it was just imitating tunes from the tv on his grandmother’s piano, but music has always been deep in his bones. His infectious style of guitar-playing and soulful rock voice are key elements to the success of his band Frank Viele and The Manhattan Project. But his solo shows bring the same raw energy and crowd-stirring excitement to audiences across the country.
His sound has been compared to John Fogerty, Otis Redding, and even Dave Matthews but it’s the authenticity people hear most. A soulful stew of rock, pop, blues, and jazz are ever present. Being so well versed in so many styles means that Viele can deliver an incredible performance to any audience.
